Like him or not, Tom Brady gets it done. He has dominated the space for close to 20 years and has made moves and had comebacks that have left jaws on the floor.
This Super Bowl was no different, his confidence and leadership owned the field. He is truly a master of his craft...not to be confused with (Robert) Kraft.
While watching the game I began to wonder just what is it that gives him the ability to dominate the way he does? With 7 Super Bowl wins, the guy has won more Super Bowl championships than any football franchise!
NFL players are all professional athletes committed to what they do but what does Tom Brady do that makes him the G.O.A.T (Greatest Of All Time)?
“We all have experiences in our lives that change us, and we all learn from people, like my dad, but at the end of the day, it’s only us. And we’re only responsible to make ourselves happy.” – Tom Brady
More importantly, what would he do if he were a blogger? I know it’s comical to compare the two but I’m all about learning from the great ones. Here’s what I came up with…
If Tom Brady were a blogger he would;
- Work on his craft every day
- Be strategic with his time
- Have a daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly plan of action that leads to the BHAG
- Track and measure activity and results
- Surround himself with the best in the business as far as SEO, trends, etc
- Have a ritual that gets him into a state to produce his best work on the daily
- A team to support him so he can focus on his strengths
- Focus and determination
- A schedule
- More discipline and focus than anyone else in the space
- Work on your craft every day.
- Spend X amount of time writing, researching content, polishing skills (photo/writing, interviewing)
- Be strategic with your time.
- Know when you are most creative/productive for each skill and hone it during that time of day. (eg write in the morning/create social media in the afternoon etc)
- Time chunk (research/photoshoots/research/social media/brands etc)
- Have a daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly plan of action that leads to the BHAG
- Work backward from the BHAG and break it down quarterly, monthly, weekly, daily, time chunk
- Track and measure activity and results
- Measure what matters. Social media activity, number of words, page views, SEO
- Surround yourself with the best in the business as far as SEO, trends, etc
- Research and commit to the best in the industry. Don't spend any time or money on wannabes or less than the best in the biz.
- Subscribe to, or know where to find the info for the latest trends in the industry
- Have a ritual that gets you into a state to produce your best work on the daily
- Using the weekly plan, create daily plans the day before.
- Use morning pages, exercise, and breathwork to get into state and operate from a peak state.
- Create mini breakout sessions during the day to get into peak state and recharge
- Assemble a team to support you so you can focus on your strengths
- Photo/video editing, some social media, contracts
- Accountability
- Unshakeable FOCUS and determination
- Connect to your WHY 2-3 a day
- Have goals/targets posted
- Have a vision board in a conspicuous place
- Eliminate distractions (clutter, sounds, alerts, etc)
- A schedule
- Plan your work and work your plan
- Schedule everything
- Have more discipline and focus than anyone else in the space
“A lot of times I find that people who are blessed with the most talent don’t ever develop that attitude, and the ones who aren’t blessed in that way are the most competitive and have the biggest heart.” -- Tom Brady
I hope you’ve enjoyed this brain dump that I’ve decided to publish with the hope and intention that it helps others who want to excel in their space, regardless of the industry.
